Dr. Jack Wheeler, called the Real Life Indiana Jones by the Wall Street Journal, has had a lifetime of adventure and exploration leading expeditions. He has traveled to every country in the world. He wrote The Adventurer’s Guide (New York: Mackay, 1975) and he's appeared on tv and radio for decades. Jack has three “first contacts” with tribes never before contacted by the outside world. He retraced Hannibal’s route over the Alps with elephants; led expeditions in Central Asia, China, Tibet, Africa, the Amazon and elsewhere.

We are very pleased to have taken the opportunity to join this extraordinary venture. Led by expert travel and exploration guides, Jack and Rebel, we were treated to some of Portugal's most spectacular highlights from Lisbon to Porto. Informed and inspired by their first-hand and historical insights, we experienced an enlightening tour of centuries-old castles, cathedrals, fortresses and museums, interspersed with today's infrastructure, unique perspectives and evolving place in the world. Our accommodations and dining were of the finest quality and our hosts were sensitive to the needs and personal characteristics of the tour members. We only wish there had been more time to explore some of the fascinating intricacies and delicacies encountered along the way. From the ancient to the contemporary, this Portugal Exploration proved to be uplifting, informative, humbling and breathtaking.

There aren't adequate superlatives to describe the complete and total satisfaction my Wife and I experienced on this Expedition. The planning and execution of the trip by Rebel and Jack was very detailed and covered every contingency. We would wholeheartedly recommend Wheeler Travels and are looking forward to maybe taking another trip in the next couple of years if a destination seems like a good fit. Thank you, Jack, and Rebel!

The opportunity to visit Bhutan was a once-in-a-lifetime event. The geography and the culture have much to offer. Our guide and driver from MyBhutan were both outstanding. The itinerary included many must-see sites. The local people we encountered were gracious, friendly, and helpful. We appreciated the advantage of travelling with a small group. One improvement to the itinerary would involve at least two nights at any stop. One-night stays do not allow complete enjoyment of the lodging and its amenities. Due to the types of roads in Bhutan more time is spent travelling than experiencing the various destinations.

Fantastic! Taking a safari like this has always been a bucket list item for me. When I read the itinerary for this trip, it just hit the spot. Jack and Rebel were amazing hosts. Jack's experiences and contacts with local tribes added so much to the trip. I don't really know, but I would guess that most safaris are almost 100 % in search of the animals. The Wheeler safari's search for the animals was fantastic, but the contact with the indigenous people we met added so much to the overall experience. The "camp" was great. First class food and incredibly great service. There were far more people taking care of us than there were guests. After just a couple of days, I think the "staff" knew all of our names and which tent we were staying in. Speaking of the tents, this was first-class glamping! The "rooms" were better than most hotels and the staff made sure everything was clean and neat all day long. The safari guides were also fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful to our understanding about each type of animal. And the trackers always seemed to know where we should go. After the "camp" experience we went to an extremely nice hotel that overlooked the huge caldera where we again saw so many animals. The rooms and the food at the hotel were excellent and better than I expected. And as a parting gift, just as we were all leaving the caldera to go back to the hotel for the last time, a parade of 24 (there is a little disagreement about exactly how many there were) elephants walked in front and along our 3 safari vehicles. What a great finish to our time in Tanzania. Great trip, great people, great hosts, and just a wonderful experience.

We just completed our first Wheeler expedition which was to Portugal. We were extremely pleased with all aspects of the trip. Every detail was top notch including the tours, transportation and hotels. Jack is an encyclopedia of knowledge and history and Rebel’s warmth and great organizational skills made it run smoothly and gave us a personalized experience that we will never forget.
